Bloomingdale’s is an upscale department store chain founded in 1872 on Manhattan’s Lower East Side by brothers Joseph and Lyman Bloomingdale. The banner operates 61 locations, made up of 32 full-line department stores, 4 small-format “Bloomie’s” stores, and 25 Bloomingdale’s Outlet stores. Bloomingdale’s is a wholly owned nameplate of publicly traded Macy’s, Inc. and, unlike the core Macy’s banner, is currently one of the parent company’s growth brands.
