99 Cents Only Stores was an extreme-value discount retailer founded in 1982 in Inglewood, California, by Dave Gold. At its peak, the chain operated 371 stores across California, Texas, Arizona, and Nevada, selling deeply discounted general merchandise and grocery items. The company closed all of its stores in mid-2024, ending more than four decades of operation.
